WordPress Plugin Spotlight: Automatic Featured Images from Video

These days, video content is everywhere. All major social media platforms allow for easy video content sharing. There are digital tools to record and post on the spot or automatically embed existing video content by simply copying and pasting a URL. Chances are that you encounter videos every single day. As a small business owner or marketer, you definitely don’t want to fall behind the video content trend. Displaying video on your brand’s website can be a game changer. Today, we’d like to introduce to you a free tool that allows you to specify the featured image used to represent your video content. Meet the WordPress plugin Automatic Featured Images from Video.

Carryin’ the banner through it all

Established websites often publish content that showcases a video as part of a blog post. For some, they may even be publishing text content along with the video that includes information about the video itself. If this sounds like your situation, wouldn’t it be awesome to have a way to have the featured image set for you? Wouldn’t it be even better if the picture used is from the video itself?

Our sibling company, Pluginize, developed Automatic Featured Images from Video, which does all that for you. The plugin is available free in WordPress plugin directory. Right out of the box, Automatic Featured Images from Video searches for both YouTube and Vimeo video links in the first part of your post content. If it finds a link, it will attempt to retrieve a still image from the provider’s API and load it into your media library. If that is successful, it will set the new image as the featured image, when no image is already set.

This provides quite a convenience for your content creators. The plugin handles heavy lifting tasks like image retrieval and media library management. This allows for your creators to focus on what’s most important—the copywriting content.

The world will know Version 1.1.0

Last week, the Pluginize team released the latest iteration of Automatic Featured Images from Video. We addressed a handful of issues that users were having over time. We look forward to learning about their experiences with this latest update and ways to improve the plugin even more. Along with that, we added the first round of bulk processing functionality. This processing feature is for those who already have a lot of content with videos published. It will allow easy fill-in-the-blank work for the blog posts missing a featured image.

Open the gates and seize the day
