WordPress Design - Venture Commons ~ Lisa Sabin-Wilson

I completed a blog design for Venture Commons this week. Well, actually 1 blog design for 2 sites - as they have used the very same template for their Venture Commons - Portuguese version blog. I can’t tell you what a challenge it was to set up and configure a blog site where the admin panel language is Portuguese!…

I would consider this blog design project to be more of a “PSD to WP” - or a Photoshop design file provided by the client, where I took it and created the design, CSS and WordPress templates for it. To be clear, I did not design the graphics in this blog, or the layout - the graphics and layout was provided by the client. I took his graphic and layout ideas and put them to work in WordPress using WordPress templates, Custom CSS and a little slice and dice magic to the graphic file he provided.

The result is a clean, 3 column WordPress theme with plenty of space for his advertisers and sponsor links, as well as good white space for his content. I installed the plugins and provided the functions for article printing, social bookmarking and google adsense ad injection into his template files.

That’s called teamwork, folks. . . and it’s a beautiful thing!
