I’m happy to announce the new launch of Cam Edward’s site. His site re-do was LONG overdue (sorry, Cam!). Running his old site on Movable Type 2.6.3, and wanting to move over to as his CMS of choice - we had quite a task ahead of us. Considering that his blog had archives dating back to April of 2003…. However, you know we’re always excited to move a blogger to using - we were totally up for the task!

First, we worked with Cam on his design ideas. Confessing to me that he had no idea, really, what he wanted - he provided some sketchy details that I took and created his first draft. As is usually the way with our design clients (especially when they don’t really know exactly how to communicate the vision in their head), after seeing the initial design mock-up, Cam provided some really great detail on what he wanted to go for in terms of the design. Cam hosts a radio talk show on NRA News and wanted his blog to reflect that, as well as his sense of humor. Once we had the design phase completed, it was a matter of doing all of the technical back-end work on his site. First step was to run a full and complete back-up of his entire site and test the back-up to make sure it was functional. We do this just in case we get one of those sweet mysteries of technology “Gotchas”, which seldom, but do, happen. Then we ran an export of all the archives, comments and trackbacks of Cam’s current MT site. After that, we were able to do a full install of WordPress, export all of his archives, comments and trackbacks into his new WordPress set up - and then set up his new design.

After the design phase was completed, the final technical stage really didn’t take that long, and Cam had his new blog site up within 24 hours of his final approval of his brand new design.

Cam’s site was special and nostalgic for me, as he was my first radio appearance/interview in 2003, back in the days when he was doing the morning show in Oklahoma City on KTOK. So, doing his site was a real treat for me! If you have a moment, stop by Cam’s site and tell him I sent you!
