Kevin Palmer, from Social Media Answers is a… you guessed it – social media freak! I meant that in the best way possible, of course. If you have a question about anything that pertains to social media – Kevin is your guy! Matter of fact, I spotlighted him in my recently released book, WordPress For Dummies, 2nd Edition as a resource on social media. It’s no great shock he has a blog about it – and he came to me to provide him with a custom and unique design for it… I was happy to oblige . . .
I’ve worked with Kevin previously, having done his other site design at Pointless Banter – I worked with him extensively on that site and had gotten a pretty decent feel for what he likes from a design standpoint. With Social Media Answers, he wanted a typical blog layout – - that is to say, a blog with chronological listings of his blog posts with a sidebar for the navigation of his archives, links and categories.
Kevin also wanted a couple of nice buttons to call attention to two main parts of his site: Niche social network reviews, where he does full reviews of various social network sites; and Blog/RSS directory listings, where he lists out the several different directories that are available for bloggers to take advantage of. The buttons I created sit at the very top of his site to call attention to these two areas on his site, they were designed with a nice hover/rollover effect.
His WordPress site was developed with full compliance for the latest WordPress version 2.7 – to include threaded and paged comments and sticky posts, if he chooses to use them. It is, of course, widget compatible, as well.
