Leah, the Executive Director from Midwest Democracy Network, approached us with some ideas she had for redoing their website with a new design, powered by Expression Engine. Their old site platform was powered by Drupal and they were looking for a change in platform that had more flexibility and was easier for them to use. Leah brought her design ideas, plan and site architecture specifications to me for implementation. .

The graphic design for Midwest Democracy Network is a clean, minimalistic design with subtle shades of red, white and blue – allowing their content and images to be the main focal point of the website.

Using Expression Engine for this site allowed us to create several different sections (weblogs) in order for them to be able to categorize and cross-post their content into different areas specified by different reform issues in Midwestern States. Each state page also pulls in RSS feed content related to poltical issues in that particular state.

The folks at Midwest Democracy Network are able to easily add images and thumbnails to each of their articles through the use of custom fields and custom implementation of the Tiny MCE WYSIWYG editor, MCImageManager and MCFileManager extensions for Expression Engine.

Through the use of different weblog set ups within their Expression Engine platform, we were able to spotlight several topics of interests for the issues, state reform and special projects that Midwest Democracy Network is currently working on.

I wonder why this client moved to Wordpress from Drupal, the client must be impressed with your designs.
