Monica is an incredibly talented photographer and she contacted E.Webscapes recently to have us design a custom WordPress theme so she could add a blog to her already existing site that showcases her work in photography. Her main site is located at IMJ Photography and I recently completed and launched the smashing new design for her blog at IMJ Photography Blog, which does a beautiful job of showing off her excellent photos. . .

Wanting to go with a design that coordinated with her main site, but not one that directly matched it. The idea was to use her own photography in the design, itself, to further showcase her work. As well as provide her with a content area that was wide enough to allow her to post large images of her own photography.

Monica chose 6 of her favorite photographs to display in the header design, along with her company logo. From there, I created a design for her that has the post content area utilizing 100% of the width of the design, depending on static pages to fill in the usual suspects you’d see in the sidebar of a blog: Archives, Blogrolls and links, etc. She really wanted that usual sidebar stuff to be secondary to her blog posts and photoblogging.

Who can blame her? Her eye for photography is really magnificent - she absolutely should put 100% of the spotlight on her photography work! You should visit her site, if you get the chance.. just to take a browse through her photos… truly amazing!

Monica was also pretty happy with the way her design turned out in the end: “We’ve had great feedback on the blog so far!.. I will definitely recommend you! :) Oh and thanks for fixing the sitemeter so quickly.

My pleasure, Monica. . . thank you!
