I finished up the custom blog design for GoldyWorld this week. I had a lot of fun doing Jeremy’s new design! His request was to create a custom template for him using only the Custom CSS feature available to Typepad users. This was something somewhat new for me – because you can usually find me mucking around inside the code of the actual template, itself … – however, using just the Custom CSS feature with Typepad, they give you access to the CSS only… I had no control over the elements within the template itself… it was different for me.. but FUN…

Jeremy had some specific ideas for the custom designed header. He wanted it to integrate somethings about him and his life that are important to him, for instance:

• He lives in San Fransisco
• He is a Downhill Skier
• He is madly in love with his wife

Keeping those ideas in mind – I combined several illustrations we purchased for Jeremy’s blog design from iStock and I designed a custom header that he’s really happy with the combines San Fransisco, Skiing and his love for his wife! Jeremy was looking for a ‘cartoony’ type of design with bright colors and a 3 column layout, with the two sidebars on the right and content on the left.

I gave tons of special treatment to several small areas of his site like his Feedburner Feed Flares, Technorati Tags, Post Footers and comments – while leaving a good deal of space for his individual posts and sidebars.

To top it off, Jeremy’s blog is hilarious! During the course of launching his design, I had the opportunity to read several of his blog posts and ended up adding him to my Bloglines – he has a fun wit in his writing!
