The site design we launched this week is NOT one for diabetics! I think I completely ruined my dieting efforts by designing this site! The site is called Candy Addict run by Brian Pipa. Brian was looking for a bright, fun and.. or course, sweet design for his candy blog….
Let’s see.. we’ve got candy, and candy and…well…MORE candy in this design! The challenge here was to not make the candy used in the template design clash or cause the entire site to be overwhelmed with the multiple images of candy that Brian uses inside of his blog posts. We accomplished that by using a ‘candy’ color scheme with a few touches of sweet treats here and there throughout the design: the header, the divider between posts, a small candy icon used in his comment count and a small candy icon used in one of the sidebars - - allowing the rest of his content and images speak for themselves.
Brian was looking for a 3 column layout for his WordPress powered blog. I provided him with a couple different layouts to choose from, and eventually he chose the layout that displays the content in between two sidebars - to accomodate all of his information, advertising and sponsorships.
Having my very own sweet tooth helped me through this project…I’m just glad I came out of it with acceptable blood sugar levels! Thanks to Brian for allowing me to dabble in his space on the web, and for providing me with a great source for candy reviews on the web!
