Ingrid King is the author of the heartwarming book, Buckley’s Story – a story of how one small cat changed the author’s life in ways she never could have imagined. Just prior to Buckley’s Story being published to the world, Ingrid contacted us here at E.Webscapes to create a custom designed blog that she would use to promote her book, and create a community of readers and cat lovers!
Ingrid and I started with a color scheme of shades of purple and lavender for the main colors used in her design. Additionally, she wanted to use a photo of her beloved Buckley in the design somehow. She provided me with a few of her precious photos and I used one of them and incorporated it as an integral part of her overall site design.
Because Ingrid wants to use this site as a marketing tool and informational site for her books, consulting and cat lovers – she wanted a blog to be a part of her site, rather than the main focus. The site is powered by WordPress and we’ve used the static page feature to create different pages of information on her site, and included a separate section of her site where she writes and publishes her blog.
After we got all those pages and her blog set up, we added an e-mail subscription feature so her readers can subscribe to her blog and receive regular updates delivered to their e-mail inbox; as well as adding her different social media memberships, such as Facebook and Twitter,as Ingrid is effectively using social media to market and promote her books. Smart woman!
Ingrid had such nice words to share at the completion of her project:
When I was looking for someone to design a website for my book Buckley’s Story – Lessons from a Feline Master Teacher, I looked at a lot of different designers and their portfolios. I ended up choosing Lisa Sabin-Wilson with E.Webscapes – not just because she wrote the book on WordPress (and I wanted a site built on a WordPress platform for its amazing ease of updating), but because the portfolio on her website spoke for itself.
Lisa perfectly captured not only the look of my book, but more importantly, the feel of the story, in her design. From the soft colors and shapes to the placement of images, the site is everything I wanted it to be and far more than I imagined it could be. Her infinite patience with my questions and requests for changes made this an enjoyable process from start to finish. Thank you, Lisa!
Thank you, so much, Ingrid – best of luck with your books, current and future!

Thanks for featuring my site on your blog, Lisa! I still get lots and lots of compliments on it, and more importantly, it makes me smile each and everytime I look at it!
