We’ve been in the business of creating custom designed web sites since 2002 (ish) and we are looking to expand our team by one (possibly two) remote, part-time designer/developers. If you are interested in building custom web sites and making a decent income from doing so – this opportunity may be of great interest to you! Our projects will challenge you and if you’re up for it – then we’re up for talking with you!

Here’s the down and dirty:
Minimum Requirements:

Documented experience in graphic design and web development
Experience with WordPress is a must (Expression Engine, Movable Type, Typepad skills are nice, too, if you have ‘em)
HTML/CSS knowledge is a must
Good communication skills.
Excellent time management. Ability to work on a deadline
While the number one qualification for this opening is a strong sense of design (aesthetics) along with strong web skills, we’re also looking for individuals with great critical thinking skills, a good work ethic and customer service skills.
We run shop like a consultancy, which means you need to know your stuff- and their stuff (whoever they may be).
Do you have references from folks you’ve worked with in the past on web projects?? I’d LOVE to hear ‘em!
Maybe an online portfolio of work or client sites you can point me to so I can see your work in action? (screenshots are nice, but I like to dig a bit more beyond the pretty, ya know)

Types of Projects we’re doing lately:

WordPress web sites, mainly (some with and some without a blog) for small and large business, multisite networks, social communities and lots of social media integration.
WordPress with E-Commerce (Cart66, Shopp or WP E-Commerce experience greatly appreciated!)
WordPress MultiSite (and BuddyPress)
Membership sites with WordPress
(…do you get a feeling that we do a LOT of WordPress sites??? we do!)

Thinks design is about solving problems, not making them
Likes to have a lot of fun tinkering around inside the guts of a blog
Gets more kicks out of removing elements from a page than adding them
Wants to learn, push themselves, and make the web a better place to be!

Writings from the Foxhole – Custom TypePad Design

Tarsha runs a blog on the TypePad platform, but was looking for something a bit more custom and more unique to her own personal style. She approached us for some design work to her TypePad templates and had a very specific look she was going for. The name of her site, Writings from the Foxhole, comes from her last name (FOX) and how she has viewed and lived her life (from a foxhole…a battle position).

Project Details	Specs
Tarsha had specific ideas that she wanted for her site, starting with the color scheme she wanted to see. She wanted a dark scheme with black, chocolate brown, gold and a dusty rose color. She wanted a military look, but wanted it to maintain a feminine feel, at the same time. Tarsha provided us with some ideas and photos to work from, and our designer, Alicia, went to work and created a beautiful 3-column blog design and used TypePad’s Custom CSS feature to apply the new style to her site. Influence at Work – Custom TypePad Blog Design

Todd Farran from Inside Influence Report approached us for a custom designed template for his TypePad powered blog. When Todd communicated his specification and requirements on his design ideas, we all decided this was a great match, so we teamed up with him and recently launched his new custom TypePad blog.

Project Details	Specs
The Inside Influence Report (IIR) has been developed to translate viable, proven scientific research into ethical business applications. Additionally, they will be updating readers on Dr. Cialdini’s new thoughts, projects, articles and public events as well as other INFLUENCE AT WORK programs. Their site is geared towards those who wish to use the scientific research and principles in business, relationships, or everyday life. Those looking for workshop opportunities. Wanting a deep maroon and grey color scheme that utilized strong colors and gradients, we created a clean 3-column theme using TypePad’s Custom CSS feature, that enables Todd to continue taking full advantage of TypePad’s built in widgets and TypeLists without him having to touch a bit of the underlying code in order to make it all happen! Nostalgia Organics : TypePad Blog Design

When Elea contacted E.Webscapes for her blog makeover, she knew exactly what she wanted – and Lisa met her design needs to a “t”! Nostalgia Organics Joyful Living Blog experienced a very nostalgic, very joyful design change when they chose us for their TypePad design needs.

From the playful dotted teal background, to the floral and nature appliques, Lisa developed a theme that, without a doubt, matches the topic of the blog. Stitched borders and retro paperclips adorn this quaint and pretty site where Elea shares articles about natural skincare, their own skincare product line, and vintage style living.

Elea’s inspiration for the design on her site comes from her own product packaging – she designs her own packaging for her soaps and products – and the design on her TypePad blog mirrors the adorable design from the packages of the products she is so successful at selling on the web. Talk about art mimicking life – and vice versa.

I am sooooooooooooo thrilled. You did a really nice job. Everything looks great – Thank you so much!

Inside the Mind of Gloria Brame – Custom Typepad Design

A little disclaimer before we begin: this is NOT a site that is safe for work, kids, minors or anyone offended by topics of an adult nature. Now that we have disclaimers out of the way .. I recently launched the new design of Gloria Brame’s Typepad powered site at Inside the Mind of Gloria Brame – this is the second time I’ve designed her site, the first time was in 2002 – so she was due for a tune up!…

Gloria is an author of several books such as: Different Loving and Come Hither; she is also a sex therapist and holds a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality and an M.P.H. in Human Sexuality, so while the topic matter on her blog is of an adult and kinky nature – she wanted her blog design and presentation to have a fun, but professional look and feel.

Her favorite color is purple (I seem to be getting a few purple people lately!) – so we went with a very clean purple and white color scheme. Because Gloria wanted to maintain the ability to utilize TypePad widgets, we chose to us TypePad’s Custom CSS option for the design of her site, rather than the advanced template option. Hers is a three column layout to accommodate her blog posts, link lists and various books and resources that she presents on her site.

Gloria was really thrilled with the way her site turned out:

Weblog Bahamas Typepad Design

We recently completed the new design for Weblog Bahamas, a Typepad powered blog by Rick Lowe, on topics related to the Bahamas, written by multiple Bahamian authors. Rick wanted a very simple, conservative design in a three column layout, as well as continue ability to utilize the very handy Typepad Widgets so he does not have to worry about tinkering with the template code in order to change the arrangments and elements in his sidebars…

Rick wanted simple with a design that included elements of paper and pen – to signify writing. We provided him with just that, in a soothing color scheme of blues, cream and greens. After trading a few ideas back and forth – Rick had this to say when he saw the final graphic mock up of his design:

Wow We!
I’m impressed.
Let’s roll!

With that, We proceeded to develop Ricks custom Typepad blog design utilizing the Custom CSS feature available to Typepad users. This enables Rick to continue using Typepad Widgets, uninterrupted – which is great, since he didn’t want to worry about learning the code require to tweak his own templates.

AliBlog – Custom Typepad Blog Design

I recently completed the custom Typepad design for Aliblog – a blog for suppliers, manufacturers, importers and exporters brought to you by the folks from the AliBaba Group, a Chinese-based e-commerce/auction company specializing in B2B (business-to-business) global trade that recorded over 23 million visitors in 2008, so far!…

I worked closely with Jimmy Lau from Alibaba.com on the design and layout of their new blog at Aliblog. They had a very specific direction they wanted to go with this that included using some of the branding from their company’s main website – including color schemes and some use of their logo – and incorporate Typepad functionality to allow them to run and maintain an regulalry updated blog written by several authors and employees from Alibaba.

Using their preferred color scheme of blue, orange and white – I created a custom template for their Typepad blog that is clean, professional – yet still fun and very functional for what they were looking to do. Along with the usual functions that Typepad users enjoy – like widgets, TypeLists, social media, etc – I also incorporated their Yahoo! search, a flashy/custom RSS display and social bookmarking, Flickr display and e-mail subscriptions so visitors can subscribe to their blog using their e-mail address.

Working through Jimmy – I had a corporate team behind him that was reviewing my work every step of the way, and they were all extremely happy with the design, layout and functionality of their new blog and were happy to launch it to the public in April 2008. From the entry in Alibaba.com’s Wikipedia page:

On 3 April 2008, 2008, Alibaba.com started their first official blog targeted for the international small and medium sized enterprise (SME) community, with a special emphasis on communicating with merchants in the United States. Their blog, the AliBlog (www.aliblog.alibaba.com) is marketed as “the latest word from Alibaba.com on our news, events, and community” while promising to be an official source for information and opinion from an employee’s perspective on Alibaba.com

Luxvelocity Custom Typepad Blog Design

We recently completed and launched the new custom design for Luxvelocity‘s Typepad blog. Joseph maintains this blog to keep readers up to date on European automotive news and for car fanatics and fans. Looking for a clean and professional design, We went to work. . .

The final result is a clean and sharp layout for Joseph’s Typepad blog with a black, white and grey color scheme..with some accents of red in there to give it a bit of punch and color here and there. We also provided him with ample space for his sponsors and advertisers, video inclusion on his blog and areas to display his most popular/top posts, represented by sharp little image thumbnails.

Wonderings and Wanderings Blog Design

We recently finished up just the CUTEST blog design for Melissa at Wonderings and Wanderings, a personal blog about ‘faith, life and self’. Melissa came to us after seeing the design we completed at LizRios.com – inspired by our custom work that I completed there, she wanted a similiar design and layout – but done with her own color preference and illustration choices…

We worked with Melissa on choosing an illustration to use, which they eventually found at iStock – and then providing her with a few different design mockups to choose from, Melissa chose her favorite and we went to work at taking the graphic work and creating the layout using Typepad’s Advanced Template feature, and some magical custom CSS work.

The result is a beautiful three column, custom Typepad design done in a soft color pallette of blues, greens and yellows. Melissa was so happy with the final product and had these words for us:

Thank you so much. It is wonderful and I’ve enjoyed it the last few days. I keep looking at it with great enjoyment saying, “That is MY site!”

Everything is great and linked correct. I’m beyond satisfied.

Saasology Typepad Blog Design

About a month ago, We completed a custom Typepad blog design for Peter at Peter de Haas’s technology blog. Happily, Peter returned for a similiar design on his blog at Saasology.Net, which is a blog that discusses ‘Software-as-a-Service” (SaaS)…

Peter wanted the design the be very simliar to the original one that We completed at Peter de Haas, but with different graphics – just enough to set the design apart from his first one. Using Typepad’s Custom CSS feature – We completed a layout and design that Peter was very happy with. As a matter of fact, at the end of the project – Peter had these words for We:
