Chris Dodge Gallery : WordPress Site Design

Chris and March Dodge approached E.Webscapes for a custom designed solution to display their beautiful collection of Asian artwork. Having used WordPress in the past, they were comfortable with the interface and features, so we decided we would build their new art gallery website using the WordPress platform. .

Their request was for a simple, but striking design with a red, black and gold color scheme. They provided me with some hand drawn elements they wanted me to try and use in a design – mainly the gold leaf that you see used as their logo. That leaf started out as a pencil drawing on paper that they scanned and sent over to me to try and make a logo out of. I used that leaf to create the gold logo you see on their site today.

I incorporated the Next Gen Photo Gallery plugin for WordPress to provide them an easy way to upload and group the images of their artwork into albums and different galleries on the site – all wrapped up into the custom 2-column WordPress theme created special, for their gallery site.

Their comments when it was all done?…

Lisa — I just went on there and it looks AWESOME!!!! You see the leaves behind “the finest in Asian art”? That’s like the banyan leaves [that we sent over to you] ! Great minds thinking alike…

Blog Design: It’s Britney, B*tch

I was contacted earlier this year by Soleil, who runs the It’s Britney Bitch blog. Her blog is a Britney Spears fan site that covers what’s new and exciting (?) in the life and times of Britney Spears. Soleil wanted a design that was vibrant in color, yet easy to navigate and something that ‘makes visual’ sense….

Soleil wanted to use up-to-date images of Britney from her latest album (used with permission by the site owner) – Soleil wanted to give a more current representation of the pop star, than what you typically see on fan sites (which utilize older, younger pictures of Spears). The site has a bold fuschia, black and pink color scheme and features a gallery, video sidebar, slideshows, and more. The gallery is powered by the fabulous NextGen Photo Gallery and provides Soleil with the ability to run a full-blown gallery with several different albums within it, easily add the thumbnails and images to her posts, along with flash based slideshows of the images on a per-gallery or per-album basis. It’s pretty nifty!

Soleil was thrilled at the end of her project:

OMG thank you, a million times! This is absolutely what I wanted and envisioned!! You really did a bang up job on the design of the header on my blog – it’s outrageous. Totally bangin’! I’m sending all my peeps in YOUR direction for their blogs.

Bangin’ AND outrageous… I guess that’s how we roll. heh.

Women Trip – WordPress and PixelPost Design

Sydney, from WomenTrip came to us looking for a custom design solution for her WordPress powered blog, as well as the integration of a photoblog powered by PixelPost. Her site revolves around her photography.. exploring the ‘fashion of life, culture, travel and photography’ and we provided her with an amazing design that brings Sydney’s ideas to life…

Choosing a colorful scheme that includes a peach and creme combination, along with a few very cute stock illustrations obtained from IStockPhoto – we created a very lively and colorful template design for Sydney’s blog.

Wedidn’t stop there, though – we also designed a custom template for Sydney’s Photoblog, powered by PixelPost. Once she was done setting up her WordPress blog and PixelPost photoblog – she integrated them together by bringing in a photostrip of images from the photoblog between each post on her WordPress blog. Here’s a sample of what I’m talking about:

It is perfect “WordPress meets PixelPost” execution that visually works together very nicely together!

Big thanks to Sydney for allowing E.Webscapes to create a beautiful space for her blog and photoblog – we were thrilled to do this project and work with Sydney and we wish you BEST of luck with your new digs!

PixelPost Photoblog: Courting Destiny

Many moons ago, I designed Pia’s blog at Courting Destiny – her blog is powered by WordPress and hosted with us at Blogs About Hosting and we’ve happily had Pia as a client for a few years now – excitedly watching the evolution of her blog and the personal growth of her as a writer and person….

This is why I was thrilled when Pia contacted me to design and set up a photoblog for her! She wanted the photoblog design to match her current blog design – which is pink and green in color, with touches of retro yumminess! Pia was interested in using PixelPost as the software of choice to power her new photoblog – so I performed the PixelPost installation, configuration and set up – - then provided her with the design for her photoblog template – one that perfectly matches her current blog design.

I can’t wait to see the photography Pia starts uploading on her new Courting Destiny Photoblog – and PixelPost makes it so easy, we should start seeing photo updates from her very soon!

From Russia With Love – Photoblog Design with PixelPost

From Russia, with Love is the new photoblog from Cherith, who runs Raven Pictures.

Cherith was looking for a very simple, minimalistic design and layout to use in order to display… her photography portfolio online. She asked for monochromatic colors – at first wanting a black and white layout, but then opted for a richer look in browns and cream colors.

I set her new photography portfolio up with the PixelPost Software – after installing it, and configuring it, for her on her own domain – I provided her a very nice, CSS driven template that she is very happy with!

I really enjoy doing the PixelPost template designs – and have a few more in my queue to complete for other clients, as well as a second one to complete for Cherith where her, and her family, will share family photos on a more personal, rather than professional, level.

Cherith does work with:
Environmental portraiture
Wedding celebrations
Pregnancy
And other forms of nature as available
Renderings by photo, paint or pastel

I’m looking foward to peeking in on her portfolio in the near future to view her photography.

Typepad Design: TomBomb.Com

Surprise! This one is not a blog design at all – but rather a custom designed header for an existing Typepad blog. Tom, over at TomBomb.Com has a blog powered by Typepad, using one of the premade templates that Typepad so nicely provides to their users…. He likes the template – but wanted just a wee bit more kick in the header of his blog.

Providing us with specifics on colors, typography and his idea for the bullseye graphic – I designed a nice custom header to include in his existing blog. Though Typepad has prebuilt templates – - they give their users the ability to customize the theme and the CSS for those templates, giving them some more flexibility and control over their design – without having to use the Advanced Template system. How’s that for cool?
