Blog Design - Your Blog Brand

Don’t underestimate the power of your blog?s logo. Site branding is popular terminology that basically means just what it says - your site logo, if not your design, gets “branded” into people?s memory, which is something that keeps them coming back.

The visual identity of your blog is sometimes as important as the writer?s content. It will give your readers insight into your blog?s basic identity - and with a unique logo and design, that identity will become your brand. Your content will be fabulous! But keep your name and concepts branded in your readers mind by having a logo/header design on your blog that is memorable and consistent with your message.

That big red K from Kellogs for example. I could see that from a distance - or even out of the corner of my eye - and immediately start thinking of my favorite breakfast cereal, without having to look any closer than just a brief glimpse.

If your blog is about Nashville nightlife and your blog design is centered on a graphic of Iowa?s rolling wheat fields - it?s not going to communicate the purpose or theme of your blog to your readers. While you might like the look of the rolling wheat fields in Iowa - it’s not really consistent with the concept of the nightlife in Nashville.

Design counts - and logo branding on your blog or website does matter a great deal. Especially if you running a business blog - or a website that is providing some type of service to your visitors and readers.

Future topics:

Communicating the goal of your site through design.
Blog navigation - keeping it clean and simple.
and more!
