1oh1 is a directory of information / ideas / advice on practical subjects for people to use as a first point of reference. Mark, who owns the site, got in touch with us to provide him with a custom design solution for his WordPress powered blog. We got to work on the design project and recently launched their new design . . .

Run by WordPress, 1oh1 doesn’t really contain a blog. It takes advantage of WordPress pages and categories, rather than posts. The page navigation for the site are all listed down the right side of the site, with the page content in the left column. Mark provided us with a PowerPoint document that laid out the details of what he was specifically looking for in the design work and layout for his site. He had a clear concept on what he was going for, and looked to us to help him make it happen.

We completed his design work and created a fully customized WordPress theme that suits Marks needs perfectly:

It’s looking BETTER than good. I’m very happy with this. Thanks.
I want to thank you for producing such a great theme and for keeping patience with my requests. If I need more work done in the future, or if someone asks me to recommend them a designer…the business will be directed straight to you, via E.Webscapes

Thanks so much, Mark – we’re happy that you’re happy and wish you success with your new site!

There are hundreds of them, indeed. If you spend a lot of time searching, you might come across a perfect design precisely meeting your requirements. :) But in my opinion, better and maybe faster option is to make yourself one or ask some template designer. I’m trying to do mine on my own, few minutes ago I read a very good tutorial on how to proceed and it’s on a very good way. Keep on blogging. ;)

I am so contacting you guys shortly… I’ve got celebiq.com, 90210411.com, and celebrityvenom.com sitting high and dry because I hired an incompetent. Glad I found you!

Yip – sometimes people trying to set up a blog put a higher value on their money than their time. If you start by realizing that your time is the most valuable asset you have and hiring a good designer is cheaper than spending 4 days trawling the internet for the perfect free theme….well…then you are starting your site on the right note.

when choosing a wordpress template I was searching for a long time
sometimes you can find a good template, but as you said a designer will have to work with it a little bit:)

It’s always a great idea to create your own templates, but if you’re not technically inclined, it’s best get a premium template from ewebscapes :)

Love all the variety I can get from your site. The others don’t hold a candle to you.

I’ve just tried to view 1oh1.com, and it looks like the site is down (a garbage/spam search page has been put in its place).

Thanks for the update, Scott — that’s too bad that 1oh1.com went away!
